Marko Aunedi received his M.Eng. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2000 and 2006, respectively. He is currently a Research Assistant in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London. His research interests include generation scheduling under uncertainty, system operation with high penetration of renewable and low-carbon generation, and the impact of storage and flexible demand technologies on power system operation and development.

He has also worked as both a investment banker and equity analyst at Ardour Capital, a boutique Cleantech investment bank, and at Standard & Poor's DRI, a global economic consulting firm. Driss was born and raised in Morocco. He has a dual Moroccan and French nationality. He obtained a double engineering degree from Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France) and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH, Stockholm, Sweden).
Throughout his academic and business career, Driss has developed a diverse expertise in the energy sector, covering technology, economics and policy, with a strong emphasis on sustainable development. He worked as an analyst within the Renewable Energy Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA), supporting the work on the Concentrated Solar Power Roadmap released in 2010. Later, at the Strategy Department of the French energy company AREVA, he served as an analyst, where he conducted various studies of the energy markets in Europe and Asia, specifically modelling the economic and environmental impacts of the various scenarios for the future Japanese energy mix.
Highly motivated by the integration of solar energy in the North Africa market, and by the Desertec concept, Driss joined Nur Energie in early 2012 to develop solar power projects in the Moroccan market, focusing on government tenders and partnerships with industrials. Driss is also very active on the technology development and monitoring, and specifically energy storage.

Bernd Calaminus is responsible for conventional and hydro power generation technology at EnBW Holding, where he focuses on strategic aspects of asset management as well as the preparation of investment decisions, e.g. for pumped hydro plants. Working with EnBW since 2006, he started as a project manager for innovation projects in the field of new generation technologies including large storage options such as Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage.
In 2000, Mr. Calaminus entered the research sector as Deputy Director of the German-French Institute for Environmental Research at Karlsruhe Technical University, where he conducted techno-economic analysis of emission abatement measures and developed emission reduction strategies, including alternative energy systems for large utilities such as Electricit? de France.
Prior to entering the research arena, he started his career in industry as project engineer for turn-key plants for high temperature gasification of waste, and as project manager for balance of plant of a turn-key SIEMENS gas turbine power plant built in Alexandria/Egypt.

Jae Choi is responsible for application engineering and project management in North America for FIAMM Energy Storage Solutions Srl, working with power conversion system manufacturer and client. Jae is also supporting business development and marketing with Sodium Nickel Chloride energy storage system in various sectors such as Utilities, Military, UPS, Residential and Automotive.
Jae has strong expertise in Li-ion and large format LFP technology having lead efforts in proceeding renewable backup system projects, developing hybrid system using DMFC for u-grid and having modular Li-ion battery units certified for TRL5/UL1973/UL2054.
He joined FIAMM in 2012 as Product and Application Manager. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and interdisciplinary computing art from CSUN and UCSD respectively. He was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and his son.

Mr Patrick Clerens studied law at the University of Saarbrucken and the University of Mainz. Since 1996, he has worked as a consultant for a private company specialising in European Affairs in Brussels. In his capacity as Brussels Representative of different European associations, he has been in involved in the climate and energy field since 2003. He manages the EASE office in Brussels as the Secretary General since September 2011, when the association was created. EASE believes that energy storage is an indispensable instrument to improve the stability and flexibility of the energy system with respect to European energy and climate policy. EASE aims to support the transition towards a sustainable energy system in Europe. The importance of energy storage for the European industry is well demonstrated: EASE has grown from the initial 13 Founding Members in September 2011 to 32 Members in only one year.

Hans is born in Heidelberg. He studied law, economics and sociology at the universities of Munich, Heidelberg and Frankfurt am Main from 1971-1977.
He started his career as Research assistant at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. He became a Partner at a law and notary office in Frankfurt am Main specialising in commercial, inheritance and media law.
His political career started when he joined the FDP following service as school spokesperson and political involvement at university. He became the First Federal Chairman and Co-founder of the FDP Young Liberals, Member of the FDP Federal Executive Committee (Bundesvorstand), Chairman of the FDP Federal Commission for Internet and Media, Chairman of the FDP Rhine-Main regional chapter, City Councilor and City Council Deputy Chairman in Frankfurt am Main, Member of the State Parliament of Hesse, Member of the Bundestag, Media and Cultural Policy Spokesman for the FDP Parliamentary Group and the Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Cultural and Media Affairs.
Since October 2009, he is the Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and since March 2010, the Federal Government Coordinator for the Maritime Industry.
